This Is How Much Water You *Really* Need To Drink

Word on the street is that everyone should drink 8 glasses of water daily. Right? 

Well, I've got news for you. It ain't true. Think about it... Does it make sense for a 200-pound person to consume the same amount of water as a 120-pound person? No. 

Here's an easy equation you can use to figure out how much water you should drink daily.

Water Equation:
Take your current body weight and divide it in half. For example, a person who weighs 160 lbs divides their weight in half to equal 80. Therefore, they need 80 ounces of water daily. Divide that number by 8 (8 ounces per cup) to calculate the number of cups needed daily; which is 10 cups in this case. 

EXAMPLE: Weight / 2 = Water Needed Daily (ounces) / 8 (ounces in cup) = Water Needed Daily (in cups)

EXAMPLE: 160 / 2 = 80 / 8 = 10

In addition to your weight, consider your activity level. You lose a lot of water throughout the day from sweating, urinating, breathing, so you need to be consistently fueling yourself throughout the day. Remember, your body is made up of 60% water (your brain is made up of 70% water). It needs water (fuel) to function optimally! 

Go drink a glass of water. BOTTOMS UP!
