Med Schools Must Teach More About "An Apple A Day"

The old adage "an apple a day keeps the doctor away" has some truth to it. After all, nutrition is at the core of many chronic illnesses.

Doctors know a LOT. Just not enough about nutrition and obesity, and their effect on disease. Diabetes, heart disease and mental health are ALL affected by one's diet.

"Studies have confirmed that medical students are starved of nutrition and obesity education."

A doctor friend of mine only had one class in medical school dedicated to nutrition. She graduated in 2016.

WHY? There are several theories. I think it's just a matter of time. Changing the centuries-old institution of medical school needs just that. Fortunately, progressive doctors like Dr. Mark Hyman, Dr. Oz, and Dr. Andrew Weil, are helping to facilitate this change.

What do you think?
