#FiveonFriday: 5 Food Trends for 2016

With 2016 right around the corner, I wonder, what will the food trends be next year?

What will be the next kale? Kombucha?

Here are my predictions:

1) Pulses
The United Nations named 2016 the International Year of Pulses, because of their nutritional and sustainability benefits.

Pulses include ~ legumes, dry beans, lentils and chickpeas. They can be found in a variety of hummus products, chips and pasta. #LovePulses

2) Switchel

Switchel is a drink made of water mixed with vinegar, seasoned with ginger and sweetened by honey, sugar, or maple syrup.
Yummy in ma tummy!

Considered "Nature's Energy Drink," it's a health tonic that can easily be made it home. #DIY

3) Fermented Foods


Fermented Foods like yogurt, pickles, kombucha, sauerkraut, help to support a healthy Microbiome, (consisting of the colonies of trillions of bacteria in our guy that control a myriad of processes in our body), by introducing beneficial bacteria to our body.

Resulting benefits include ~ improved digestion, mood, metabolism, immunity, and more.


4) Siracha

Is Siracha the NEW ketchup?

This Thai treat may just take over those Heinz ketchup container on the table at your favorite restaurants... Who am I to stand in the way?!

5) Food Delivery Apps

Who doesn't want to have dinner magically appear at the touch of a button?!?!


Look out for Uber and Amazon's iterations of the food delivery app.
