MEDITATING: What? How? Why? When?

Me meditating at Moona Trailhead Labyrinth on Nantucket

MEDITATING.

WHAT does it mean exactly?

Meditating is defined as: thinking deeply or focusing one's mind for a period of time, in silence or with the aid of chanting, for religious or spiritual purposes or as a method of relaxation.

Originating from

HOW the heck do I do it?

However you want!

There are 100s
of meditations out there to choose from... Like anything in life, you just GOTTA WANNA do it.

Let me save you some time searching for the perfect a meditation to start off with.

My Go-To Meditation for myself, clients, and yoga students:

Take 10 To Meditate

1) SIT - in a chair, on the floor, in your bed, fill-in-the-blank

2) FOCUS on a stationary object / close your eyes

3) BREATHE IN through your nose for a count of 3

4) HOLD your breath for a count of 3

5) BREATHE OUT through your mouth for a count of 4

6) REPEAT

WHY should I do it?

If you experience any of the following, then you should do it:

STRESS
ANXIETY
ADD
HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE
AGING {unless you're related to Age of Adeline's Adeline, face it, tomorrow you'll be 1 day older...}
PAIN - Physical + Mental
DEPRESSION
ADDICTION - alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, sugar etc.
POOR MEMORY
LOW ENERGY
PMS

... The list goes on ...

WHEN should I do it?

Whenever you feel like you need it...

STOP. DROP. MEDITATE.

"All that we are is the result of what we have thought.
The mind is everything.
What we think we become."
