Happy (almost) 4th o' July! 4 TIPS to Stay Slim for BBQs

As you head outta town for the 4th of July weekend... to the Hamptons, Nantucket, Jersey Shore etc. and begin to ponder just how you are going to manage to keep up with your diet and fitness regime while maintaining a jam packed party schedule, have no fear! Check out my 4 TIPS to Stay Slim while you get your BBQ on:

1) Pick your Protein Prudently. Burgers and Hot Dogs are staples of any legit BBQ, BUT if you wanna cut back on calories, opt for an organic, grass-fed beef. Here's what I recommend...

BURGERS: Go for the better burger, the Applegate Great Organic Beef Burger, 100% organic, grass-fed lean beef, free of antibiotics, growth hormones, nitrites, and preservatives. ** They're low in sodium, unlike many of the leading frozen burger brands.

HOT DOGS: Go for the leaner weiner, the Applegate Great Organic Hot Dog, 100% organic, grass-fed lean beef. ** These have only 8 grams of fat compared to the average 15 grams of fat in most brands. They're high in good omega-3 fatty acids because they're made from grass-fed beef.

2) Veg Out! For the Vegetarians and Vegans out there, try these delicious Grilled Portobello Mushroom Steaks or a good ole Veggie Burger.

3) Hydrate with H20. Drinking a BIG glass of water before you eat a meal will help fill you up and keep you hydrated. Dehydration is often be confused for false-hunger signals.

4) 1 For 1. Drink a beer, (preferably light), then drink a glass of water. Repeat. ** Light Beer has about 103 calories per 12 oz. serving vs. Regular Beer which has about 138 calories per 12 oz. serving, according to the USDA.

Keep these tips in mind when you're BBQing this weekend, BUT don't let it get in the way of partying in the U.S.A!!!
